The new browser has been created precisely to be enjoyed with virtual reality glasses, something that changes the format of use and that makes the voice search as one of the main protagonists, for example. The WebVR standard is a fundamental pillar of a project that also recommends the contents and experiences of virtual reality.

Less keyboard, more voice

Those responsible for Mozilla already indicated months ago that they were working on this type of project, and finally, they have published the first version of Firefox Reality, with which we can “explore the immersive web” with versions available for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Google DayDream.

One of the differentiating keys of this browser is the prominence of voice in searches, since we can dictate terms that we want to consult directly in the browser to avoid having to access those virtual keyboards that fulfill their function but are clearly less useful to have to go “pointing and shooting” to each key with the controls that accompany these virtual reality systems. Another of the key sections of the development is in its vocation to show us new experiences of virtual reality. Here Mozilla seems to want to become a distribution channel more in the style of other stores such as VivePort, Oculus or DayDream. In fact, when you start the application we will see on the home screen various experiences and content that invite you to explore these new developments to squeeze even more our virtual reality glasses. It will also be possible to activate private browsing and thus take advantage of the content of all kinds without leaving a trace of the history, cookies or searches. Applications in this way are obvious, especially in the field of virtual reality. All this, of course, based on the Quantum engine that made its appearance months ago. In Firefox, Mozilla indicates that this development – open and with its code available on GitHub – will be updated often in the coming months to integrate new options and invite creators and developers to participate in these types of scenarios that for Mozilla have a bright future.
